Governance

Ensuring your Trust and Confidence:

Our Commitment to Governance

At the Dillon Quirke Foundation, we are committed to the highest standards of transparency,
accountability, and ethical practice. We operate in full compliance with the requirements of the
Charities Regulator and are guided by the principles of the Charities Governance Code.

The Foundation is a registered charity (RCN: 20206579) and is governed by an independent Board
of Directors
, which provides strategic oversight and ensures that all activities are aligned with our
mission and charitable objectives.

Leadership and Governance Expertise

Our governance is strengthened by experienced leadership and access to external expertise:

  • Our Head of Foundation is a qualified Accountant and governance expert, and serves on the Board of the Charities Institute Ireland, ensuring that our organisation remains aligned with the latest best practice in governance, risk, and compliance.

  • We engage an independent external auditor, Spain, Fewer, Quinlan & Co, who annually review our financial statements and internal controls, and provide advice to the Board.

  • We also work closely with our legal advisors, Mason Hayes & Curran, who support the Board with legal guidance and governance best practice, including ongoing training.

Strong Governance Structures

We have established robust governance systems to safeguard the integrity, sustainability, and impact of our work. These include:

  • Board Oversight:
Our Board brings a diverse range of expertise across healthcare, sport, governance and community engagement. The Board meets monthly to review performance, oversee strategy, and ensure effective governance and accountability.

  • Financial Stewardship:
We operate strong financial controls, including budgeting, monitoring, and reporting processes. Independent external audit and oversight ensure that all funds are managed responsibly and transparently. The Board also oversees forward financial planning and forecasting to support the long-term sustainability of the Foundation.

  • Risk Management:
We maintain a formal risk management framework, with risks actively identified, assessed, and regularly reviewed by the Board to ensure appropriate mitigation across all areas of our work.

  • Sustainability and Fundraising:
The Foundation operates a structured fundraising strategy, overseen by the Board, to ensure diversified and sustainable income streams that support our mission over the long term.

  • Policies, Compliance and Data Protection:
Our governance is supported by a comprehensive suite of policies, including Code of Conduct, Conflict of Interest, Data Protection (GDPR),  Financial Controls and Safeguarding. We utilise secure systems, including a dedicated CRM platform, to manage stakeholder engagement and ensure full compliance with data protection requirements.

These measures ensure that all resources entrusted to us are used effectively and deliver meaningful and measurable impact.
